Industrial electricity for companies

2025-06-30
The electricity that reaches companies differs significantly from that supplied to households. This applies to both technical and economic issues. So what makes industrial electricity stand out? And which modern solutions will ensure the lowest possible energy bills in manufacturing companies and industrial plants? Discover Veolia's proposals.

What is industrial current and how is it different from ordinary current?

Industrial current is electrical energy used by companies and manufacturing plants. In such companies, electricity is necessary to power advanced machines and devices, which means that it must be distinguished by appropriate technical requirements. Energy consumption in industrial companies is also much higher, which is why it is necessary to apply special tariffs and fees, as well as to take into account additional parameters (such as active energy).

The electricity supplied to industrial plants is characterized by a higher voltage than in the case of households (the difference can be even several hundred kV). Individual recipients also benefit from the simplest tariffs, while entrepreneurs are divided into several tariff groups (according to the voltage level):

A – high voltage, for the largest recipients, including those from the steel, metallurgical or chemical industries,

B – medium voltage, for large industrial companies,

C – low voltage, for small businesses and farms.

A specific tariff also includes the contractual power and the number and method of settling time zones. Industrial electricity requires a perfect match of each of these parameters - otherwise it can generate much higher bills and even involve the need to pay a penalty (e.g. for exceeding the contractual power).

What determines the price of industrial electricity?

The price of industrial electricity depends not only on the tariff group. In addition to the cost of energy used (which includes, among others, the price of conventional energy, taxes and the fee for energy certificates), one must take into account the distribution fee related to the transport of electricity via transmission and distribution networks. Its components are:

  • quality rate,
  • costs of electricity distribution and maintenance of the electricity grid,
  • transition fee,
  • subscription fee.

Industrial energy, or more precisely its rates, are not regulated by the Energy Regulatory Office, but are set by companies trading in electricity.

Veolia's industrial electricity offer – what modern solutions do you have to choose from? Energy for industry is currently an extremely dynamic and diverse market. This is definitely good news – thanks to this, you can adjust the electricity offer to individual business needs. So what modern energy solutions can industrial plants and manufacturing companies benefit from? Here is the offer for industrial electricity from Veolia.

Fixed price for industrial electricity

One of the most popular billing models for industrial electricity is a fixed rate for energy. That is why we offer Veo Standard to customers who want to be sure that the costs of purchasing electricity will not change. This is our standard product based on a fixed price for the duration of the contract (with a guarantee of its invariability). What are the benefits? Veo Standard allows for effective planning of expenses and gives a sense of security and predictability. Thanks to this, there is no need to worry that the rate for industrial electricity will increase significantly in the future. Who can we offer such a product to? We offer Veo Standard to all customers according to the standard price list, and in the case of plants consuming more than 3000 MWh of electricity per year, we apply an individual valuation.

Veolia's flexible tariffs

The price for industrial electricity can also be flexible and based on indexing the purchase price to the stock exchange futures prices. Our next product, Veo Flex, provides such an opportunity. This is a contract that assumes that you make purchasing decisions independently - when placing an order, you indicate the moment and part of the contract that is to be secured by a wholesale purchase on the Polish Power Exchange (TGE). For this reason, Veo Flex is dedicated to customers with appropriate knowledge of the functioning of the energy market. The product is also intended for companies consuming more than 1000 MWh of energy per year. Customers who anticipate that energy for industry will be cheaper in the future can use spot settlement, i.e. Veo Spot. What does it involve? Electricity is settled at stock exchange prices on the day of delivery (quoted on the Day Ahead Market). At the time of concluding the contract, the price is therefore not known, but we determine it after execution after each business day during the delivery period. Veo Spot is intended for all customers - without volume restrictions.

Green energy for industry

Industrial energy from Veolia are also solutions using Renewable Energy Sources (RES). For customers interested in sustainable development, we can offer 100% green energy, which will reduce the company's carbon footprint. Industrial electricity in this variant will take care of the company's competitiveness and improve its image. For RES producers, we also offer green energy buy-back, as well as an electricity sales agreement based on Veo Duo, i.e. a product of selling electricity with simultaneous buy-back of energy produced in the RES installation in a favorable settlement model.
